Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie with Flaxseed

Are you ready for another smoothie recipe? (queue song ‘I’m Ready’ by AJR) Well now that I’ve mentioned a song I have to tell you movie trailers are the best place to discover new music! Thank you Google for always answering my question ‘What song plays in the so and so movie trailer?’ Insert the movie Trainwreck into the question this time and you have AJR – I’m Ready 🙂 It’s a cute video and really fun, upbeat song! Wait, did you click on this post to read about a smoothie? Come on, I can’t spend an entire post just on smoothies! Than again, maybe I could if I’m listing all the things I love about these deliciously easy creations!

The simplicity of (most) smoothie recipes along with the ability to customize based on your food mood on any given day make them a favorite of mine and a staple snack in our home. By the way, Food Mood is a legitimate phrase; no need to try confirming through Google 🙂 Let’s say you love peanut butter (who doesn’t?) but today you want to eat even healthier, you can swap it for almond butter. Same story goes for the dairy in this recipe and the flaxseed could easily be substituted with chia seeds or oatmeal. Point well made? I think it’s time to move on to the best part of this post. Check out the recipe below and enjoy your breakfast, snack or dessert!

Let us know your favorite variation through the comments section! If you’re interested in learning more about the health benefits of flaxseed I really recommend doing some research and asking questions! At a quick glance, flaxseed is high in omega 3 fatty acids, lignans (having plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities) and fiber! Cheers to good health!
