Sweet Treats

Peanut Butter Chocolate Covered Hearts

Let me start by answering the obvious question. Yes, these “Peanut Butter Chocolate Covered Hearts” are also known as Buckeyes. I’ve awarded them the nickname ‘buckeyes in disguise’. Clever, I know 🙂 I used our Buckeye recipe from Christmas to make a new Valentine’s Day treat this year. My Grandma did the same after I shared the idea with her and you know what? I think we Continue reading

Gingerbread Cut Out Cookies

The Christmas season is in full swing; my husband and I braved Black Friday shopping (late in the afternoon, of course), the house is decorated and we had the annual cookie baking day at my Grandma’s this past weekend. Despite the cold weather, it truly is one of my favorite times of year. To make it even better, Hailey seems to be  extra excited for Christmas this year! I don’t remember her looking forward to the holiday this much since Continue reading

Roasted Cranberry and Brie Crostini

You know what makes it challenging to focus and write? A puppy who has loads of energy at 8:30 PM sprinting in circles around the living room and up and down the couch you’re “relaxing” on! I’m talking about our little Max of course, the cute puppy who made his blogging debut in my Canning Homemade Salsa post. He’s already doubled in size weighing in at a whopping 6.5 pounds these days! The good news? Puppies play hard and then sleep hard so although it may have taken me twice as long to write 100 words tonight he is now snuggled on the couch ready to nap! And on that note, let’s talk about cranberries and my excitement to have them back in season! I wish I could make the cranberry season last longer, but I have gotten wiser this year thanks to my Grandma and will be Continue reading

Dark Chocolate Halloween Cookies

A few days ago I shared last year’s healthy Halloween treat (jack o lantern oranges) on Facebook making the comment we should save the sugar for the Christmas cookies. I’ll have to request you look past that comment as I now write about the Halloween cookies we made yesterday that are clearly filled with that exact ingredient. In my defense, my thirteen year old stepdaughter Continue reading

Make Your Own S’mores Bar

To say this summer has flown by may just be the understatement of the year! It’s been an eventful season for our family for many good reasons and a few less than good ones too. I’m going to write about the best reasons and keep praying for the less fortunate ones. Remember the kate spade baby shower? My adorable little niece was born a month and a half later on June 17th! My husband and I spent many hours at the hospital anxiously awaiting her arrival, but by Continue reading

Carrot Cake Cookies

I’ll be honest with you, finding time to try new recipes for this blog I love so dearly has been a challenge lately. It gets stressful at times feeling like I always have to choose how to spend my time, because I know there’s not enough to go around for everything. That’s where priorities come in and sometimes family, good books and relaxing have to be placed first and blogging comes fourth. It’s currently 10:30 PM as I’m writing this and if you know me at all, you know that’s certainly past my bedtime; I’ve never been much of a night owl. On top of this problem with time I’ll never be able to solve, I’ve also had some ‘Pinterest fails’ and less than ideal photos in my kitchen the past few weeks. It can become a bit discouraging if you let it (sometimes I do, guilty), but it’s also Continue reading

Cherry Blossom Cookies for Valentine’s Day

If the remaining eleven months of the year go by as quickly as January, I might as well go ahead and say Happy New Year again and ring in 2017! The past 31 days have flown by and I feel like I may have even missed half of the month! I’m confident in saying ‘glad I’m not the only one’ as I suspect some of you are in the same boat! Now that it’s January 31st and we’ve had a brief break from the holidays, it’s time to get ready for Valentine’s Day! I love Valentine’s Day for two main reasons, my Continue reading

New Years Eve 2015 + Chocolate Fondue Recipe

As you can see by my post about New Years Eve on January 11th 14th, I’m really ahead of the game this year and quickly striving towards big success when it comes to resolutions like writing more. I actually don’t make resolutions, phew! I do however hope most of my readers share the sarcasm sense of humor I simply can’t deny myself! So it’s 2016 and again we’re asking the question “where has time gone?” I’ve come to realize this Continue reading

Gingersnap Cookies

Well, it’s that time of year again! You know, the holiday season that seems to come around faster and faster each year. My Grandma, Mom and I had our annual cookie baking day earlier this week. I just love our tradition; I’ve talked about it once before in my cut out cookies post. I would love to tell you ‘what’ annual cookie baking day occurred this year, but fortunately we’ve been doing it for so long now I’ve lost count! This year was a bit extra special, because my Grandpa spent the day with us too. He was a superb supervisor and photographer! We made four types of cookies to add to the Continue reading

Peppermint Oreo Truffles

Is that a Christmas dessert posted on November 15th? It’s not even Thanksgiving yet. I know I know. Two things…one, I’ve been listening to Christmas music since early October. Yep, I’m one of “those” people. What can I say, it’s happy music and I’ve had a love for Christmas for as long as I can remember. You should have seen my Continue reading
