Valentine’s Day 2016

I hope every one of you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day last weekend! It’s holidays like this I’m thankful my husband has a daughter instead of a son. I’m just taking a wild guess when I say a boy wouldn’t be as impressed with my heart shaped food and sweet love notes 🙂 As usual, my husband and I celebrated early with a Continue reading

Easy Turkey Meatloaf for Two

It’s (still) Winter which means on any given cold and gloomy day we’re craving comfort food that will warm our souls as we wait for Spring! The bad thing about comfort food? It’s usually assumed to be associated with being unhealthy. Not the case with this recipe, my friends. Swapping lean, organic turkey for beef makes this meatloaf recipe healthier while still being 100%  Continue reading

Cherry Blossom Cookies for Valentine’s Day

If the remaining eleven months of the year go by as quickly as January, I might as well go ahead and say Happy New Year again and ring in 2017! The past 31 days have flown by and I feel like I may have even missed half of the month! I’m confident in saying ‘glad I’m not the only one’ as I suspect some of you are in the same boat! Now that it’s January 31st and we’ve had a brief break from the holidays, it’s time to get ready for Valentine’s Day! I love Valentine’s Day for two main reasons, my Continue reading

Avocado Caprese Toast

Avocado Caprese toast is a perfect snack and, for me, one I made in the Winter to pretend for just a moment it was Summer! I discovered this ‘recipe’ a few days ago and didn’t want to wait for warmer weather to give it a try. I’m really looking forward to making it again with straight from the garden ingredients. Didn’t I just talk about time flying in my last post? So is it June yet? Continue reading

New Years Eve 2015 + Chocolate Fondue Recipe

As you can see by my post about New Years Eve on January 11th 14th, I’m really ahead of the game this year and quickly striving towards big success when it comes to resolutions like writing more. I actually don’t make resolutions, phew! I do however hope most of my readers share the sarcasm sense of humor I simply can’t deny myself! So it’s 2016 and again we’re asking the question “where has time gone?” I’ve come to realize this Continue reading

Christmas Morning + Homemade Hot Cocoa

I almost didn’t write this post thinking I should skip ahead to a better one instead of posting stationary consisting mostly of family stories and little of actual ideas or recipes. You know, something my readers would be ‘more interested in’. What? Hit the brakes…fast!! I would love to see this blog become successful over the years, but I never want to reach that goal by straying away from my initial intent and passion that fuels each post. Then I realized some of you may still find a cute idea or tradition to adopt from our simple holiday. Tip of the day? Always  Continue reading

Christmas Eve Gift 2015

Is it Christmas Eve yet? Just kidding. I know it’s approaching all too quickly, but at the same time I’m already excited! It’s one of my favorite nights of the year with Hailey. Even if nothing special is planned, the excitement a child has on Christmas Eve is contagious and truly adds some magic to the evening. This will be our third Christmas as an ‘official’ family and the fourth year for Hailey’s Christmas Eve gift, the first tradition we started together! A Christmas Eve gift is a wonderful way to Continue reading

Gingersnap Cookies

Well, it’s that time of year again! You know, the holiday season that seems to come around faster and faster each year. My Grandma, Mom and I had our annual cookie baking day earlier this week. I just love our tradition; I’ve talked about it once before in my cut out cookies post. I would love to tell you ‘what’ annual cookie baking day occurred this year, but fortunately we’ve been doing it for so long now I’ve lost count! This year was a bit extra special, because my Grandpa spent the day with us too. He was a superb supervisor and photographer! We made four types of cookies to add to the Continue reading

Crockpot Buffalo Chicken

You’ll probably want to revisit this crockpot buffalo chicken recipe on Sunday. Not only is it a great dish to serve during football games, but by the time we reach this particular Sunday, you may just want anything besides Thanksgiving leftovers when it feels as if you can’t eat another bite of turkey! It’s easy for me to think and say Continue reading
